ACCESSIBILTY

We take the needs of all of guests and visitors seriously and access for the less mobile is an important part of this. We continue to strive to improve access and have done our best during recent refurbishment to improve access, both outside and in the hotel.

NO STEPS

This now means that there are no steps to negotiate in accessing the ground floor of the hotel where the lounge/bar, the restaurant and two of bedrooms are located.

From the main car park area a wide ramp leads to the front door. This has a secure handrail to one side. The slope is approximately 1 in 11 so is not advised for unaccompanied wheelchair users.

However there is also level access from one parking space/drop off area.

LEVEL ACCESS

This purpose built parking bay has level access into the hotel along block paver surface. You are advised to contact us to ensure that this is available for you, if needed. This space also has a charging point for an electric scooter or wheelchair.

We consider our two ground floor rooms to be at Mobility Level 2: Typically suitable for a person with restricted walking ability and for those that may need to use a wheelchair some of the time and can negotiate a maximum of three steps although we have none.

The disabled bedrooms do not have full wheelchair access although the bathroom/toilets have walk in shower wet rooms. However the doorway through to the ensuite wet room may be too narrow for wheelchairs at 65 cm or 25.5 inches. One of the ground floor rooms also has grab handles by the toilet and in the shower and a shower stool can be provided in either of these rooms on request.

SHOPMOBILITY

Bath has a shopmobility service where electric scooters and wheelchairs can be hired.

In Bristol there is a Shopmobility unit on the top floor of The Mall Galleries Shopping Centre (opposite TK Maxx, near the Castle Park exit). This is a scheme which provides powered scooters and wheelchairs, and manual wheelchairs to enable people with mobility impairments to shop and use other facilities in Broadmead.
